Description:
This is an interactive workshop on our ongoing curriculum on Strike Reduction Copper Glazes.
We will be going over the discovery and the use of copper in ceramics and how various cultures created some of the most beautiful glazes.
We will focus on the copper reduction luster work from the Arts & Crafts Movement. Many important ceramists such as Hugh Cornwall Robertson, Auguste Delaherche, Adrian Dalpayrat, Ernest Chaplet, and more have used this technique, (Strike Reduction), to create amazing glaze effects.
We will work with several copper glazes in this workshop
Participants will bring in no more than 5 pieces of bisque-ware smaller than or equal to (5"Hx4"Wx4"W)
We load the reduction kiln with James as the group completes their glazing.
The kiln will be fired the later in the week following the workshop.
