Instructor:  Nick Tranmer

About your instructor:Nick Tranmer has been making, teaching and studying ceramics since the early 90’s. Since then he has worked in a wide variety of ceramic environments including industry, universities, museums, galleries and crafts centers. Along the way he managed to earn a BFA in ceramics from the Kansas City Art institute in 1997 and an MFA from San Jose State in 2011. Over the years he has made a lot of different things, from porcelain and terra cotta pottery to large and small hand built sculpture. He appreciates the physicality and versatility of ceramics
and loves to help people discover and nurture their own interests and abilities through clay. Since 2015, he has also been working as a farmer, primarily growing organic row crop vegetables and tree fruits, but now works at the Rancho La Paloma on the Gaviota coast growing avocados and blue agave.
