Mosaic Mirrors - Thursday Afternoons with Michelle Griffoul (6/8 - 7/14), 1:00 PM- 4:00 PM

Dates: Thursdays, June 8th - July 14th (6 weeks)

Price: $380 (glaze, 1 bag of B Mix clay, firing, tiling materials (mirror, grout, silicone), instruction and drop-in open studio time included). Tools ($20 + tax) and additional clay ($15-$35 per 25 lb bag) available for purchase at Clay Studio.

Description: In this course, students will learn the process of making a tiled mosaic mirror from start to finish. This class will cover all elements of the mosaic process: beginning with the construction of the tiled patterns using raw clay, to the firing and glazing process, and ending with tiling and grouting the mirror itself. Students will end the course with a finished mirror ready to hang in their homes!  You will be required to provide a 24’’x 24’’ piece of plywood for the class for your mirror to hang on, and we will provide you with the mirror, clay, and other materials required for the class. Age 18+.

Recommended prerequisite classes: None

Additional Tools Required by Students: Students will need to bring one 24’’x 24’’ piece of plywood for mounting their mirror.

Drop-in open studio hours will be available for this course: Students are welcome to come in to Clay Studio during our Open Studio Lab hours to work independently on Sundays from 11AM-4PM, Mondays from 10AM-1PM, Tuesdays from 4PM-8PM, and Fridays from 10AM-1PM. Please note that Open Studio Lab hours are subject to change.
