Price: $380 (glaze, one bag of reclaimed clay, firing, instruction and drop-in open studio time included). Tools ($15 + tax for a toolkit) and additional clay ($15-$35 for a 20-25 lb bag) available for purchase at the studio.

Description:
This will be a general skill-building 8-week class where we will hammer down the basics of centering, pulling, collaring, and more– we’ll also explore advanced techniques like making lids and galleries and shaping all sorts of forms. Marie is open to exploring anything the class is curious about. Age 18+.
This course is suitable for: Intermediate and advanced students. Skill expectation is that the student can confidently center and throw an 6’’ tall basic cylinder.
Recommended prerequisite classes: At least one introduction to wheel throwing class (the more experience, the better).
8-Week Class Timeline:
Classes run for three hours and include demonstrations and hands-on instruction from your instructor.
Week 1: Introductions. Get clay, tools, and lockers. Begin classwork.
Week 2: Work week
Week 3: Work week
Week 4: Work week. Glaze demo. Begin glazing projects that are ready.
Week 5: Work week
Week 6: Last week to work with wet clay. No exceptions (even returning students).
Week 7: Finish glazing. Practice throwing/handbuilding (not to keep).
Week 8: Wrap up any last-minute glazing and pick up finished work. If continuing on with the next class session, set aside bisqueware for future glazing, and clean out lockers, shelves, and personal items. Celebrate!
Term 6 Key Dates:
Last week to work on greenware: Week 6
Last day to put greenware on the shelves to be fired: Sunday, November 24th
Last day to glaze: Sunday, December 1st
Last day for lab hours: Sunday, December 1st
All remaining greenware on class shelves will be recycled on: Friday, December 6th
Oldest 3 bisque carts will be recycled on: Friday, December 6th
Oldest finished glazed work will be donated on: Friday, December 6th
Lab Hours:
Along with the 3 hours per week of class instruction, students have on average, an additional 23 hours per week for the first 7 weeks of the session to practice independently (23 x 7 = 161 additional hours total). Please note that occasional workshops and events may be held during lab hours, in which case some wheels may be occupied. The last day for lab hours is Sunday, December 1st and will not be available after the class has concluded. There are no lab hours the last week of class in order to prep for the next term.
Tuesdays: 3 pm - 8 pm
Fridays: 10 am - 4 pm
Saturdays: 10 am - 4 pm
Sundays: 10 am - 4 pm
Lab hours are subject to change during in-service or event days. Students will be notified in advance if this occurs.
In the case that a make-up class must be scheduled, the students will be notified and the class may be held on a different day of the week. A refund or credit will not be issued in the case that a student cannot attend the make-up class.
