Price: $360 (glaze, one bag of reclaimed clay, firing, instruction and drop-in open studio time included). Tools ($15 + tax for a toolkit) and additional clay ($10-$35 for a 20-25 lb bag) available for purchase at Clay Studio.
Exploration of Historical Techniques is a unique ceramics course designed to take you on a journey through time, exploring the fascinating methods employed by makers across different periods and cultures. Led by renowned ceramic artist James Haggerty, this comprehensive class delves into the historical context and hands-on instruction of techniques behind ceramics from distinct eras:
- Pre-historic: Chinese and the Middle East
- Arts and Crafts Movement
- Special effect glazes
- Multi-firing techniques
- One raku firing included
- More periods will be taught based on participants' selections
This class is recommended for: Intermediate or advanced students, but all are welcome.
Students will not be allowed to trim or create new work during the last week as it is designated for glazing and wrapping up pieces. Optional lab hours will be available for students who want some independent working time to hone their skills. Age 18+.
Drop-in Lab hours:
Students are welcome to come in during our open studio lab hours to work independently on Tuesdays 3 PM-8 PM and Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays 10 AM-4 PM. Please note that occasional workshops and events may be held during lab hours, in which case some wheels may be occupied. Lab hours are subject to change depending on studio needs.
*In the case that a make-up class must be scheduled, the students will be notified and the class may be held on a different day of the week. A refund or credit will not be issued in the case that a student cannot attend the make-up class.
