Introduction to Wheel Throwing - Wednesday Afternoons with Marie Bose (3/6-4/24), 1 PM - 4 PM
Dates: Wednesdays, 3/6-4/24
Times: 1 PM - 4 PM
Price: $360 (glaze, one bag of reclaimed clay, firing, instruction and drop-in open studio time included). Tools ($15 + tax for a toolkit) and additional clay ($10-$35 for a 20-25 lb bag) available for purchase at Clay Studio.
Over the course of 8 weeks, we will meet in the studio to explore the fundamentals of throwing on the potter’s wheel. From the basics of wedging and centering, to throwing vessels and learning how to glaze them, we will provide you with the tools you need to launch your own ceramic endeavors! Experienced thrower and instructor Marie Bose will teach you to focus on both the process and the product while progressing your skills each week.
Students will not be allowed to trim or create new work during the last week as it is designated for glazing and wrapping up pieces. Optional lab hours will be available for students who want some independent working time to hone their skills. Age 18+.
Drop-in Lab hours:
Students are welcome to come in during our open studio lab hours to work independently on Tuesdays 3 PM-8 PM and Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays 10 AM-4 PM. Please note that occasional workshops and events may be held during lab hours, in which case some wheels may be occupied. Lab hours are subject to change depending on studio needs.
*In the case that a make-up class must be scheduled, the students will be notified and the class may be held on a different day of the week. A refund or credit will not be issued in the case that a student cannot attend the make-up class.
