James Haggerty

James Haggerty is well known for his finely crafted forms, and his mastery of glaze chemistry, especially the Persian Luster firing technique. 

James’ passion for ceramics came early at the age of thirteen after taking a ceramics class in 7th grade, and at seventeen, he was Vivika Heino’s youngest glaze calculation student. 

After graduating from high school James worked at Santa Barbara Ceramic Design, where he managed the production department and formulated their glazes.

James attended the California College of Arts and Crafts, and Otis Parsons Art Institute, where he received a BFA, and worked on his Masters at Long Beach State. In 1992 James relocated to Santa Barbara where he formed a pottery business with his wife, Linda. 

James’ has work in many prominent private collections, has shown his work in many fine galleries across the United States, and his work was also featured in the motion picture, “Ghost”
